Our Mission

We create warm, textural homes designed for real life—layered spaces that feel personal. From primary residences to destination retreats, we design with intention, creating environments that are inviting and ready to be lived in.

Courtney Heaton

Founder + Principal Designer

Courtney Heaton is the founder and principal designer of Heaton and Co, her San Francisco-based interior design firm specializes in creating warm, layered homes designed for the way families live.

Originally from Texas, Courtney studied business at TCU before making San Francisco home more than 20 years ago. She and her husband have three daughters who they have raised in San Francisco. Courtney’s Texas roots and California life have both influenced her approach to design: welcoming and relaxed, with an appreciation for beautiful materials, collected pieces, and interiors that never feel overly precious.

Courtney is particularly drawn to vacation homes and the opportunity to create special places where memories are made. Whether in Wine Country, the mountains, the desert, or by the coast, she believes a second home should feel like an escape from everyday life—thoughtfully designed, effortless to enjoy, and ready for family and friends to gather.

Her approach is personal and highly considered, balancing beauty with comfort and practicality. Together with the Heaton and Co team, Courtney guides clients through the many decisions involved in creating a home, bringing a clear vision to the process while making it feel as seamless and enjoyable as possible.

Outside the studio, Courtney can be found rearranging something in her own home, spending time with her family and friends, or searching for great tacos and the perfect ranch water.
